20th International Conference on Discrete Simulation of Fluid Dynamics (2011)
Location: Fargo, North Dakota, USA
Venue: Barry Hall
Date: August 8-12, 2011
The conference focuses on the theory and applications of simulation methods for fluid mechanics that, in contrast to traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics methods, are derived from a microscopic model. These methods continue to increase in popularity because of the simplicity of the algorithms and their suitability for high performance parallel computations.
Methods: Lattice Boltzmann, Stochastic Rotation Dynamics, Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, Lattice Gas, Molecular Dynamics and others.
Applications: Phase separation, turbulence, particulate flow, colloid hydrodynamics, hemodynamics (blood flow), flow in porous media (oil recovery), boiling, polymer solutions, swimmers, fluctuating hydrodynamics, and more.
Important dates:
Early registration: November 15, 2010-March 15, 2011
Abstract submission: November 15, 2010-February 28, 2011
Acceptance of Abstracts: March 8, 2011
Extendend deadline for abstract submission: March 9.
Acceptance of Abstracts submitted after February 28: March 16.
Special Journal
A special issue of Communications in Computational Physics (CiCP) will be published in association with the DSFD 2011 conference. We expect that this special journal will reflect the high quality of the DSFD 2011 meeting. Papers should be between 12 and 20 pages in length and follow the CiCP style requirements. You can find an appropriate style file at:
Style file: cicp.cls
Template: template.tex template.pdf
Instruction: instruction.tex instruction.pdf
If you are interested in submitting a contribution it would be much appreciate if you could send a short note indicating your intention to dsfdconf@gmail.com so that we can make appropriate plans.
When you submit your contribution please send it to dsfdconf@gmail.com and cc cicp@global-sci.org. Please use "DSFD 2011 special issue in CiCP" as your subject.
The timeline is:
Indication of interest to submit preferably by August 31
Submission deadline: October 31
Reviews due: November 28
Resubmissions due: December 19
2nd reviews due January 16
Final versions due January 30
May: publication of hard copy which will be distributed to participants
Questions should be addressed to alexander (dot) wagner (at) ndsu (dot) edu
CUDA competition
Graphics Processors (GPUs) have recently become a viable alternative for high performance computing. At recent conferences we have seen an increase in presentations that utilized this new and exciting technology sometimes reporting up to a 100 times speed up over serial programs. We are excited to be able to announce the NVIDIA Best Program Award which will be presented at the conference. We invite submissions of parallel CUDA programs for simulation methods related to this conference. Of these submissions we select a best program and the winner will receive a NVIDIA Tesla C2070. See here for details.
